At Hello Baby, compensation is clear from day one. We coordinate clinic-led care, provide independent legal counsel for every party, and hold funds in escrow so benefits are paid on time. Your coordinator walks you through every line item before you sign.

What determines the total package?

Your final package is personalized and depends on:

• Experience (first-time vs. proven carrier)

• Singleton vs. multiples and medical complexity

• Insurance & region (ACA or supplemental coverage, local costs)

• Contracted options (pumping, invasive procedures, bed rest, travel, lost wages)

Typical range: Base from $50,000; total packages commonly fall around $60,000–$100,000+ depending on the factors above. Final terms are set in the legal agreement.

How you’re paid (typical schedule)

Compensation is tied to clear milestones outlined in your contract. Common schedule:

• Agreement signed – first installment released

• Start of medications / monitoring – stipend & covered costs begin

• Embryo transfer – procedure stipend + travel reimbursement (as applicable)

• Heartbeat confirmation (≈6–7 weeks) – ongoing base installments begin

• Monthly pregnancy support – paid on schedule until delivery

• Delivery – final balance and applicable delivery-related items

Exact timing/amounts vary by contract and clinic protocol; your attorney will review each milestone with you.

What’s included (examples)

Beyond base pay, surrogates typically receive covered or reimbursed items such as:

• Monthly allowance (communication, local mileage, minor incidentals)

• Medical travel (transport, hotel, per diem—pre-approved)

• Maternity clothing stipend

• Invasive procedure fees (e.g., D&C, cerclage—if required)

• C-section or multiples differentials (if applicable)

• Pumping & shipping breast milk (optional, if agreed in contract)

• Childcare / lost wages / bed rest per contract terms

• Life/AD&D insurance and covered medical copays as outlined

Your coordinator will provide a written breakdown and keep receipts and approvals simple and consistent.

Escrow, legal & taxes

• Escrow protection: Journey funds are held by an independent escrow/trust provider and released according to the contract.

• Independent legal counsel: You’ll have your own attorney (fees paid by intended parents) to review and negotiate terms.

• Taxes: Referral/compensation may be taxable depending on your situation—please consult a tax professional. We provide documentation as needed.
